The Boy I Loved
I think I like men who are soft and kind,
With hearts that wear their truths unlined.
Not macho bravado, fists clenched tight,
But courage shown in tender light.
It was you—fragile, raw, and true,
Who spoke of heartbreak you once knew.
No bitter words, no blame, just pain,
Your honesty a sweet, clear rain.
You wept without shame, unafraid to be seen,
In a world that says men must stay serene.
They called you "just a boy" — too tame,
But I never wanted a macho name.
I saw your strength, not in fights,
But in the joy you brought to my nights.
The way you held me safe and high,
Like I was the reason you touched the sky.
I fell for that young, earnest face,
Not this hardened man in misplaced grace.
Misogyny never wore you well;
It dimmed the light in which I dwell.
Give me the boy who loved with care,
Who found his power simply there.
